The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation was established in 1998 to help combat violence in the home and to foster education and prevention programs aimed at making domestic violence a thing of the past.
Royal LePage Realtors, brokers and staff have raised more than $20 million dollars toward the Foundation, with all the money channeled directly into local community efforts to prevent abuse. Royal LePage Canada underwrites 100% of the Foundation’s administrative and operational costs, so every penny raised goes to help women and children in need.
Our branch gets involved in fundraising and awareness efforts every way we can. Working in partnership with the nearby Kingsway office, we participate in the annual Garage Sale for Shelter, take part in the Royal LePage GTA Charity Golf Tournament, and attend the Shelter Gala. Many of our agents donate a percentage of their commissions to the cause.
Our branch also organizes fundraisers at the neighbourhood level. We host regular bake sales, and every year, we put together a popular Halloween event with apple cider, balloons, entertainment and, of course, treats for the kids. People make donations, and all the money raised goes to the Shelter Foundation.
We also help out a shelter right in our community. The Bloor West Village Branch sponsors Redwood Women’s Shelter by donating funds for supplies, food, maintenance and more. All our representatives contribute to this initiative monthly, and the money goes a long way to making life better for the shelter’s residents.
Reaching out to the community
We’re proud of the work we do for the Shelter Foundation – it helps make our community a safer place for women and children. But we also contribute to the neighbourhood in other ways. We support ADDUS, an association that provides support to families of children with mental illness. We help clean up the park behind our office so kids can play there safely. We buy tulip bulbs from the Shelter Foundation’s annual drive and donate them to local schools and retirement homes.
We’re proud to give back to a community that has given us so much, and will continue to do everything we can to make it a better place to live, work and play.
